Even though it would be so easy to just cave and give your child anything and everything he or she wants to eat, you are not doing them justice. There are a lot of health problems in children because of the lack of proper nutrition in their diets. Children do not understand vitamins, minerals, and overall good healthy eating. It is the job of the parent to make sure that the food the child eats is good and healthy.
Since your toddler is at a very impressionable stage, it would be a good idea to make sure that you are making the most of this time by instilling good eating habits. They re never too young to develop good eating habits so make sure that you are doing everything you can in order to make sure that they are eating healthy food. Special treats and snacks are okay every once in a while but you really want to make sure that you are limiting those. Try to make the majority of the snacks your toddler eats is nothing more than fruits and veggies.
In order for your toddler to grow at the right rate, you have to make sure that they are getting enough nutrients to eat. They need plenty of calories to fuel their entire day but you want to make sure that you are not trying to force adult sized meals on them. The ideal serving size of a healthy meal should be about a third of the size of an adult's meal. The amount of healthy food should only be enough to satisfy their hunger so make sure that you are watching for the signs that they are done. Never force a child to eat their entire plate if they are truly not hungry. Eating too much, even of good food, can lead to sickness and obesity.
Not only is it important to make sure that your toddler is getting healthy food for their physical grow but also for the growth of their learning abilities. So much is still taking place inside the mind of a toddler. In order to make sure that your child has the best chance at a healthy mental life full of education that is easy to learn, it is important to make sure that he or she is getting plenty of proper food in their system.
If you are concerned about the amount of food your child is eating or whether or not your child has a healthy diet, make sure to talk to your child's doctor. He or she will be able to evaluate the health of your child and determine whether the diet he or she is on is a good one. If your doctor suggests a change in your child's diet, make sure that you are following the orders. This is more than just about what's for dinner for tonight, but what is for dinner that will be a help for the rest of the child's life.
